Overview

Product overview

Celanese provides excellent copolymer acetal material options and new solutions for your application needs.

What is POM?POM – also known as acetal or polyacetal – is a highly crystalline, high-performance engineering polymer that displays a broad range of properties, particularly its low coefficient of friction, excellent wear resistance, high modulus and resistance to many solvents and automotive fuels. Basic mechanical properties of acetal copolymers include high strength and stiffness coupled with good impact strength. Low moisture absorption results in excellent dimensional stability and makes Hostaform & Celcon POM an excellent candidate for parts that must exhibit tight tolerances in moist environments. As a leading acetal copolymer manufacturer, Celanese provides a variety of POM grades that span a wide array of applications & industries, due to their high-performance thresholds.

New: Hostaform POM XAP3 for Automotive Interior Applications Hostaform POM XAP3 is a third-generation solution designed for the automotive market, optimized for low formaldehyde emission. Potential applications for POM ECO-C include: Appliances Automotive safety and door system parts Industrial gears and conveyors Medical delivery devices Power tools Ski bindings Toys Personal Care Hostaform POM ECO-B : POM ECO-B allows customers to realize a reduction in carbon dioxide emission in their end-use products and advance towards their renewable content goals. POM ECO-B material uses a mass-balance approach, which means fossil and renewable feedstocks are mixed in production but accounted for separately and certified via ISSCPlus-system.

Featured Hostaform & Celcon POM Grades Now introducing POM ECO-C grades available for commercial use In addition to our bio-based POM ECO-B grades, Celanese is also introducing POM ECO-C to our sustainable materials portfolio. Hostaform(r)/Celcon(r) POM ECO-C will be the first Celanese Engineered Materials POM derived from low-carbon intensity methanol. This methanol is produced via the carbon capture and utilization (CCU) project Celanese launched in January 2024 at the Clear Lake, Texas site and it has been certified under ISCC CFC (Carbon Footprint Certification). Estimated to deliver the lowest product carbon footprint (PCF) for any Celanese POM material, end products have identical quality and performance enabling drop-in replacement – no product re-qualifications required.
